But I was struck by inspiration: not even inspiration that says: you've seen THAT movie. It was more of the wonder and beauty of the track that started making the scene go. It made the meeting every bit of enchanting as I was wanting it to be. I can't wait till the Lord sends me a husband and kids and I can read that story to them :)
Well, this isn't exactly why I decided to post. I wanted to share a few pictures with you before I run off to get Ithilwen into a mess with Tattycoarum (the art teacher) for drawing 'fairytales' (Which is against the rules (fairytales, elves, fairies and all that jazz) are against the Rules at Thundergyrth Hall (the boarding school Ithilwen... the ELF... is stuck at :) Nice... right?
As I was saying: here's a few pictures that I thought I'd share with you all! Gasp, faint, and get sick if you have to :) Then you can wring my neck afterwards...
Ahahahaha! Yes... you can see (as Mirriam (a.k.a. Earwen) knew already) that I (by the suggestion of Awel) gave Drazearra a complete makeover. But she IS a brilliant blue, just really cute now :) I'm not so happy with Ithilwen's face, but I love her stockings! (mix-matched because a troll stole one of each of her stockings so now she goes around with hideously mixmatched socks! =) Who would have thought that detail came from Bonnie of Toy Story 3?
And no, I have no idea what is right there in front of Dazzy (the Dragon, also known as Drazearra. Dazzy is her nickname)
here's Frodo! :) I'm so glad I was able to find a 'model' for him. I can get so many different facial expressions now! It's such a good thing I'm not publishing my book... oh well, professional authors suggest having a model for your characters.
Frodo looking bored (can you name the scene from How to Train Your Dragon?)
This is one of my favourite versions of Frodo :) By the way, Ithilwen IS my main character-- I've just been in a Draw-Frodo-Mood
Why exactly does Frodowise Middeltun look like Hiccup? Well, Raven dear said that I should steer clear of the 'blue eyes and black hair' of Frodo Baggins. So, now Frodowise Middeltun has sandybrown hair that's slightly red with green eyes-- and wonderful freckles! (I love freckles)
My, dear, cute Dazzy =) You know we have a cat that acts just like Toothless? Seriously, we were laughing hystarically sometimes at Toothless because it had the same moods as Havalah, our VERY moody cat =)
by the way, that's a siggie I made. I think Dragons are soo cute :)
So, anyone up for some sample quotes from my NaNoWriMo novel?
Oh. Going? So soon? I was just getting ready to share with you *winks*
Here ya go:
Her heart beat fast and eagerly as she looked every which way for the One she knew was near. She felt his presence in the tingling, glad air. And she knew suddenly why the air had felt so piercing and why all the world seemed enchanted by happiness.
But everywhere her midnight blue eyes turned, she could not find him, but the wind passing through her hair, from behind brought the promise of hope. Through the long grass and blue dreamflowers her feet strayed, dancing again in her search, each step leading her closer to him. She turned, and then seeing nothing once more, she recoiled, froze, and caught herself, drawing her clasped hands in towards herself. She felt a warm breath across her neck, but it wasn’t disquieting or unsettling to feel that warmth.
Slowly, and hardly daring to hope or to breathe, she turned with that furrowed brow that loosened into a look of sheer awe and helpless joy. In contented radiance, her beaming face was lit by a smile heartbroken by perfect bliss.
Ithilwén laughed and cried all at once while a thrill of excitement sent a shiver of wordless wonder, love, and peace down her back and arms.
And this is how the Middeltuns arrived at Thundergyrth Hall, rather boistrous don't you think? Keep in mind that neither Ithilwen nor Archie have ever been to Boarding School before. They're both eight, so this is their first time.
With a deafening groan that echoed and resounded in the children’s ears, Lublo shut the door: sealing their doom. They were banished for weeks on end to the torments of Thundergyrth: to terrorize and to be tormented. Ithilwén and Archie blinked, staring at the door and holding their breaths. Then all at once, just as they began to breathe again Wilfred and Lumpy seemed to lose their heads for no reason at all and ran off down the hall screaming and waving their arms.
From the open doorway they heard a shout of: ‘oh joy! The Middeltuns have come at last!’
Five or six boys ran out of that room and followed the piercing strains of Wilfred and Lumpy’s screeches down the hall. Frodo followed, in a less riotous manner, leaving Ithilwén and Archie alone.
‘Nice to be known by our screams,’ Archie said dryly. Ithilwén smiled and nodded just as the closed door opened and a head peered out, glaring with a look that could kill, at Ithilwén and Archie.
‘It wasn’t us, I swear,’ said Archie. He pointed down the hall as the lady swept out of the room with pompous grandeur.
And this... actually Archie's little bit about the dog came out of absolutely nowhere... he rather surprised me =)
‘You— who are you?’ she asked. ‘You’re— you aren’t a ryndel. You’re too pretty for that; and your eyes are too intensely bright and piercing for that.’ (oppsie! my bad, have to fix that redundancy)
‘Well, I am an Elf,’ Ithilwén said slowly while her face burned to her ears.
The lady sighed, as if Ithilwén had just pronounced a very disgusting curse on her and that she would face that doom with mock meekness. ‘Oh dear!’ she said, her eyes turning back sharply at Archie. ‘One trouble after another: you’re Archer Middeltun— I should have known. I heard from Mrs. Dothnogood that you would be coming this year to my school. And only the Middeltuns of Wrenwood would bring something like—’ she nodded and gestured to all of Ithilwén.
Ithilwén looked understandably annoyed. ‘I don’t know that I’ll be much more trouble than the Middeltuns if they’ve that sort of reputation at this place.’
‘You must be Professor Tortu[re]—’ spat out Archie before he caught himself and said quickly: ‘Muggles, I mean.’
‘My reputation proceeds me, I see,’ she said with a stiff, humourous laugh that was edged with bitterness. ‘Come with me, I see I’ll have to add you to my list of students. And since you’re both new here I must introduce you to Garm.’
‘The dog?’ asked Archie eagerly and in perfect innocence.
Muggles turned and gave him a chilling look that withered Archie’s courage. ‘Garm is the Administer of this institution,’ she said with a scornful toss of her head.
‘Is that like a dragon slayer?’ asked Ithilwén. ‘If it is, we could possibly give him some advice about trolls.’
Where's Frodo, you ask? For those of you who knew Frodo before you knew Archie (namely, my dear McKenna) Well, Frodo at this moment isn't friends with Ithilwen. He can hardly stand her.
But, for now, how are you all doing? How's your week been? What's new with you? I'll leave you to recover from this post, while I gear up for eagerly answering McKenna's e-mail tomorrow afternoon! (And with that, McKenna, your Shieldmaiden costume was LOVELY! I loved it! I have to tell you all about it tomorrow!)
in a day without rain...

4 notes from the elvenhome:
Love the drawings! Very ironic that I found your blog. My book that's being published is about a girl who is also in love with fairytales and sketching. =)
I'm now a follower. God bless,
Tessa
Tessa, thank you for your very kind comment! :) oh you're being published? That's wonderful! Unfortunately, I have too many elements from so many books (Aslan, Frodo, Drazearra looking just like Toothless) that I couldn't possibly publish, but I write for my kids. Your book, however, sounds amazing! Could you possibly tell me more about it? I'm so interested!! :D
I'm running over to check out your blog! :) Thanks for commenting, your kind words, and for following! :)
My book is a YA Christian fiction, about a 16-year-old girl whose in love with fairytales and art (and fireflies!) It has some similar elements that are presented in the book "Summer Promise" by Robin Jones Gunn.
Thanks for your comment, also! =) I would be on NaNoWriMo, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm currently in the process of editing my book. Maybe next year, though!
Tessa
Tessa, thanks. That sounds like a really great book! :) Where'd fireflies come in? =) Just curious. Fireflies *are* neat, that's funny you mention fireflies since that's a 'against the rules' in my book after one of the kids played a practical joke on a teacher in the story ;D So, what's up with fireflies? =))
Thanks again, see you around!
